Thanks for that ,I asked about the sump extension so that I now know that the dip stick markings can be observed .
I asked about the four bolts John because all my other Guzzis over the years had hidden cap screws and this latest bike has quite easy to see hex head screws . Save a lot of new...
If you could fit a Ducati 916 twistgrip it might help , there is red button on it that when pressed in holds the throttle open enough to keep a cold engine running .
Chaps . Just changed the oil filter on my 1100i 1995 Cali ,was surprised to find four hex head m6 bolts holding the centre of my sump along with the normal cap screws around the edge ,is this normal for my model ? It also had the sump extension which I always believed was an after market...
Thanks for all that , I can easily source ball joints here , I made my own gearchange linkages using rose joints and stainless rod and that is what I will do for my throttle tie rods .
Incidentally, when I tried to start my bike after the worst of the winter had past ,it fouled it's plugs . A...
Looking for a replacement for the right hand tie bar on my old Cali . Just one of the tie bars has excessive play in the little brass bush . The bit I am looking for is the nasty plastic connection from the centre crank out to the throttle body , the bit that opens the throttle butterfly . I am...
Thanks for your suggestions , L.I. batteries are probably not a good idea for so high a latitude ,57 deg ,ambient is usually quite low and I believe L.I. ( seen it on my camera and I phone ) doesn't work at low temps but I think there is a slim oddessy that fits .
Hadn't considered that john. Does the Sport1100 use the P8 ? and does it also use the forced air intake ? . I ask because I owned a carbed Sport ,it had forced air to both air intake via front ducts and to the float chambers . I would think that shifts a lot of air , but don't know if the same...
Been thinking about going a little further with the mods on my Cali , I think the airbox lid could be dispensed with. It is common practice on Ducati monsters to cut the top of the airbox off and I think the Guzzi could be modified. That would give enough clearance for other tanks . Then the...
Interesting reading ,got me wondering about fuel filters and changing them . What's the general opinion on how long they go before needing changing . Manuals invariably quote service intervals for air filters but here in Scotland I have yet to come across an air filter that's choked ( too damp...
Thanks for taking the time to look, but I think we have our wires crossed , its the red wire hanging out of a cable sleeve off the main harness that I was asking aboot ken.
Whilst looking for loose connections around my coils ,I noticed that the white wire coming out of my voltage regulator was plugged into a connector that had both a blue wire and a red and black wire ,out of the same cable sleeve is a red wire with a female bullet connector but nothing connected...
Thanks Chaps.
Luke the engineering student is very happy with the response.
Got to wondering if bike thefts are a big problem over the pond . I live 50 miles from Aberdeen ,in a very rural location and have never had anything stolen from around the farm ,but theft and break inns in Aberdeen...
A friends son is designing a motorcycle security device in the final year of his degree at Loughborough uni in England .
He has little success getting general motorcycle forums to help ,getting abusive replies from some , so I thought I would show him how helpful Guzzi riders can be and ask on...
Yes , John ,pre muffler would be about right . I have made a h pipe ,and intend to use the original silencers until they rust through ( maybe a year ) Then maybe make up a set of stainless silencers . Who is Todd ?
Well , I chopped the top off the rusty pressed metal link under the gearbox on the exhaust , it's a bizarre interior ,still can't quite make up my mind what Guzzi had in mind . I think it is probably a silencer ,maybe on the Helmholz principle ,anyroad up, it's going in the bin .
I have been...
