Answer: none of the above! The top looks like this
I ended up taking a taper walled 3/8 drive socket that fit in the end of the damper rod and wrapped it with electrical tape to create friction on the inside of the hole. It works but it was crude. I have learned that other people have used...
Let me start off by saying I have been riding for over 45 years and have come to demand decent performance from the front and rear suspension of any motorcycle I am riding. Unfortunately my 2001 Jackal 1100 had (in my opinion) pathetic front forks that would dive under braking and have poor...
Deadeye, yes, they do make a tool that is supposed to fit the flats, I just wanted to be sure of the actual size. They look like this:
They also have one like this for the fork caps
In any case I think I am just going to be using the 1 inch tube for now and not over-think the process...
Well this is a first, I somehow managed to break off the end of my speedo cable from my 2001 Jackal 1100 and it is now stuck in the speedo drive of my white-faced Veglia speedometer. The offending piece is shorter than the housing so I cant grab it with pliers.
I tried using a magnet, while...
I have re-valved forks before, so I am not worried about performing the procedure. The question I have relates to how to hold the damping rod in place to tighten the lower bolt, after I remove the existing hex from the top of the rod as instructed by Race Tech
I know some people mention...
I am going to re-valve my forks on my 2001 Jackal and was wondering if anyone knows what the size of this hex is or if there is a proper tool to hold the rod while loosening the bottom bolt? Thanks in advance for the help.
I thought you might like to see the before and after pics of the seat modifications I made in an effort to achieve a better riding position for my 34" inseam legs.
The first is a stock seat.
These are after I had the foam replaced, re-shaped and added one inch of memory foam to the top...
Thanks Todd. I already have the springs on the way so the entire kit would be duplicative (although in retrospect I should have checked with you before I ordered them).
I have the non-adjustable forks so I will need (want) the emulators. I will purchase them on the site and will let you know...
I completely forgot to check Todd's website before I ordered the springs. Not sure how that slipped my mind.
I will check in with him re the Race Tech fork emulators he sells and see if those are available and a bolt in procedure.
Has anyone had any success with using aftermarket front fork valves on an 1100 EV (Jackal/Calif) Tonti framed bike?
I just ordered some Hyperpro springs and have seen some overseas vendors selling from fork valves.
Any pros or cons with respect to using these? Any favorites? Preferred...
This is the bike as it currently sits. I plan on recovering the seat so that I sit higher, using more of, and a better quality of, foam padding. Right now my legs (34 inseam) are a bit compressed and I think that after raising the seat height I will definitely be too far from the bars for a...
I have a 2001 Jackal with a lower handlebar than standard, which came with the bike when I bought it.
I like the look of the bars, they just seem a little too far forward and cause some pain between the shoulders when driving.
Has anyone had any success using some aftermarket handlebar risers...
