NZ is not part of Australia!

Long story short, I'm Lithuanian, lived in Ireland for 13 years, now 5 years in Canada.
There was a lot of Irish that thought Aussies and Kiwis are the same, back in Lithuania my homies thought the same, as well as that Irish and English are the same. Lots of Irish and English called us Eastern Europeans just Russians and so on. And quite often people get offended and triggered instead of just educating others. In other words, I've seen a lot of ignorance on this matter and I'm happy to see people talking about this in a nice humorous way:)

True!

However, nobody assumes the same for Americans. Everybody in the world, thinks all Americans are the same!

Take a look of the real size of the USA, superimposed over Europe and this absolutely incorrect myth, is immediately apparent to anybody.

Are all of the people in Europe, covered in blue below, the same? Same culture, same food, same religion, same social structure, same politics, same language?

Not a chance.

It’s just like this in the USA too.

Greenland doesn't own its own tectonic plate - Oz does, hence, Greenland an island, (the biggest), Oz a continent. No need to separate Oz from NZ 'cause we have so much in common; the ANZACS, both shores of a shared sea, XXXX & Tooheys owned by Lion/ Nathan owned by Kirin and 15% of the Kiwi population residing here in the land of the Free. Set up a separate NZ forum and most of your responses will come from the Gold Coast, I know Bro!

Can't argue with that, Aussie has it's own tectonic plate, God in his infinite wisdom had a reason to put you lot 'out on ya own'. :D
 
Not for long GW. Oz is racing northward at 3.7cm a year. Eventually we'll be part of a new Asia, surrounded by billions and our Kiwi brothers will be left to be serenaded by crickets. Wouldn't hold my breath though.

Any somewhat isolated group will “evolve” their own colloquialisms and accent like the Atlantic provinces, the US Midwest.
Some states like Louisiana had a strong foreign influences…
 
I didn’t know this until I went looking for that Louisiana French flag, but it seems that after WWII we actually OUTLAWED the speaking and teaching of French in Louisiana schools. How stupidly paranoid of other cultures we Americans are, even when those cultures are intertwined in forming “American Culture”…
 
Quebec is trying to outlaw the speaking and use of English. They already have several laws in place. It's insane. If they keep it up, downtown Montreal will be a ghost town like it was in the early seventies when all the foreign (American) companies moved out.
 
They don’t understand that it’s not something you can legislate !
That will leave us with Italian/Greek/South African French speaking population, but nothing of the French Canadian Culture,
Les Chanson a Répondre, Le Réveillon, home made baked beans… Beaver-skin hats ;)
