Every man and his dog should have a scooter, great fun and just the thing for nipping down to the shop for a pizza or whatever. I got a Sym HD 200 and the grand kids just love it.
Cheers,
Mark.
It should be a Guzzi, after all, we are a bit different. But that is art, real art, don't you just love the creative side of mankind. Should sell like hotcakes, I want one.
Hi folks,
just a quick update on my cocked eyed bandy legged goose I rode across the USA.
I finally arrived in Seattle a bit frazzled and worn around the edges after getting caught in snow in Oregon, talk about an idiot abroad. I even managed to drop the bike in the McDonald's car park in Walla...
Thanks Rafael, I'm onto it.
I finally found some twisties along side the Little River Falls in Alabama, and then Hwy 56 in Tennessee to see what gives, and I'm confident it will get me safely to wherever I'm going until I get it fixed.
Regards,
Mark.
Yeah, the forks are bent, the frame may be as well, who knows. But the bike runs true, does veer, and stops in a straight line. I'm happy to ride it as it is, until I can fix it, cheap like. It may well get me around the world as is, my latest thought bubble is to keep on riding west through...
Today I picked up a 1200 Sport I bought a month ago sight unseen in Florida to do some touring in the USA and Canada. Unfortunately, despite assurances that the bike was straight, the front forks are bent. I remember seeing a set on Ebay a month ago or so, but a quick search has show up nothing...
I had a bike once that struggled in top gear at 60mph. Back in 1969, it was a Suzuki 250 2 stroke, and then it was only when going into a head wind. FWIW, in top gear, my 1200 Sport runs smoothly from 60kph @ 2000rpm, but it really loves 120 to 150kph. What a bike!
Hi Dan,
I'm only a spectator when it comes to the 8V, but I think you might be onto something with the overheating oil.
I reckon a radiator fan might be in order. I have a little Sym scooter with a radiator fan and the heat that it radiates is significant. With a bit of looking around, there...
Hi Guzzmike,
You are a lucky man to live in such a scenic area, south east France is tres spectacular. I travelled just south of you last year, and looking forward to Mont Blanc on my winter migration this year. Here is a photo taken in the cirque de Combe Laval, just to your south west. My...
These motor bike trips are all the fashion
So I rode my bike from Melbourne to Athens,
Some have gone the long way round
And some have even gone the long way down,
My little trip was just a pup
because I just went the short way up,
Some said I wouldn't get far'n
And some said not even to Darwin...
Hi Ray,
have you checked that the swing arm pin is tight, and the ring nut on the swing arm pin is firmed up against the left pivot bearing. The bearings might be ok. If so, just give them a grease. I found my swing arm pin was loose when I was removing the swing arm.
Regards, Mark.
Hi Ett,
I'm pleased to see you got it mounted and it looks ok to me.
But how does it perform? Do you get clear air around your head?
I once fitted an after market screen and could never get rid of the buffetting. I threw it away in the end.
Regards,Mark.
Hi Kinkajou
yes, the key is to align the intermediate plate. I did it without a tool. Check out https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/160/66 ... 448#p50454. There are even some photos.
Regards, Mark.
Folks,
don't panic. Its a Cali, and to me it looks like it upholds and refines that fine bike's characteristics and history. If 110HP and heaps of torque is not enough then I don't know what is. I mean it is not as if it is a sports bike. Just as long as it is reliable and does not eat it's own...
Re: the chore of flogging 525 poneys worth 236k$ up the Stel
I don't know why Top Gear rated it so highly. Corners too sharp for me, especially the north side. But then again I was on a Suzuki Intruder, 2 up, and it was raining. The scenery was great, so I suppose I will just have to go back...
Having a shaft drive is 1 of the reasons I bought a Guzzi. It seemed like I was forever adjusting and oiling the chain and cleaning the rear wheel on my previous bike, a Triumph Sprint ST 1050. In hindsight, I should have done myself a favour and installed a scotch oiler the day I bought it...
Oh yeah, what a nice bike!
There is nothing like a glimpse of the grim reaper on the horizon to focus the mind. I'm recovering from a radical prostatectomy and with a Gleason score of 4+3, I am eagerly waiting my 1st post op. PSA test. Hopefully I will be around for years and years...
Hi Pete,
well, I suppose the 2V is a bit of a horse when compared to the 8V. I chose the 2V because of the problems with the 8V valve train. I understand that that has been sorted now, but the owners with repeat failures must be spitting chips. There is always risk when buying anything second...
Hi seyser,
yeah, good advice, accept the fact that dealers are not your next best friend, and fix it yourself. I recently bought a 2008 1200 Sport 2V from Townsville. While riding it home to Melbourne, some 3000 kms, just south of Charters Towers in the middle of nowhere, I gave it a burst and...
Hi ohiorider,
a similar thing happened to my 1200 Sport 2V just the other day. I had just filled up with petrol at the servo and noticed wafts of smoke coming off the right hand exhaust pipe. Out of the blue, oil was dripping off the head near the outer spark plug. I found the valve cover screw...
