2013 Cal 1400 8V words & pics

All I can think of is a factory penned sidecar option would make this thing another option for folks.

What's the reason for the "doubled" head covers on the new engine?
Isn't the current 8V running already too hot?

Esthetic. Funny there was an aftermarket valve cover for round fins that look like this one. Don't think it ever caught on, only seen the ad for them and never saw'm in person.

The excess heat is a lean fueling issue not cooling efficiency issue. The valve covers don't provide much cooling anyway. The double wall will reduce vapor condensation (mayonnaise) in the valve cover when riding in near freezing weather.

Is it just me, or does it seem somewhat Runesque ?
Rune(c)? A prehistoric germanic script? That can't be it. What is Rune nowadays?

New pics just surfaced... by the looks of it, I think we are seeing (what is likely) the production version:

Don't know why but it looks to me as the whole bike bends under the weight of the rider...
I don't know if the target group likes this view...

Perhaps Guzzi is trying to lure the Harley crowd ...
I know, I know, that was uncalled for...

That is exactly what Guzzi is trying to do.

I like it.

Get rid of the spot lights, I don't like them on any of the bikes that currently wear them; be they american japanese or what have you.

Get rid of the grab bar around the seat... looks like an after thought.

Solid black seat, instead of the two tone.

Foot pegs instead of boards and I'd be figuring out how to afford one in the next few years.

Currently riding a Breva 1100.

That is exactly what Guzzi has to do.

Harley-Davidson has essentially defined the cruiser market. Like Kleenex to a tissue. Everyone who plays in the cruiser segment is trying to lure Harley-Davidson customers away from the collective. Personally, the more I see of this new California the more I like it. But yes, I'd certainly change the spot light bracket or remove them altogether.

YMMV,

Mark

Much as I don't want to admit it I like this cruzer! My 11 year old son was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at the pic and said "thats way cooool dad! you should get one" then he said what no seat for me! I like the tank cut aways something only a Guzzi could get away with LOL

Maybe, but if Guzzi succeeded in that endeavor, I bet most current Guzzisti would change brand - not that interested in riding La-Z-Boys on wheels...

Is it just me, or does the new Cali look like two separate designers were in charge, one with designing the front, the other the rear, and both forgot to look at what the other guy was doing until it was time to put the two halfs together?
Wow , and then someone said , "Oh Darn ,Lets better put some mufflers on there "

Is the 1400 motor likely to be used in anything else? A 1400 Stelvio might be fun.Anyone know what Guzzi is planning with this engine?
You can bet on it - the brain seems to be hardwired to the default "bigger is better"

This appeared on the MGCGB forum recently.....a "pre-production" Cali 1400 on road test.
