    Bon voyage and all that...

You have no idea how embarrassing it was to be running under power on a Sport 1100i and have some dude casually pass you by coasting on a Bassa or whatever it was. Tremendous fun! I'm short three bones in my left hand now and can't stand the pressure or impacts of handlebars. Riding without...

    Bon voyage and all that...

Next week, my last Moto Guzzi departs the garage and I'm finished with motorcycles. I can't complain. I've done about 200,000 happy miles on my various Guzzis but the aftermath of five surgeries on my hands and arms in the last three years makes it impossible to ride without serious pain and...

1997 1100 Sport with Coughing / Hiccup / Engine Cutting Off Issues

I probably spent about $4K trying to cure that problem on my (long gone) Sport 1100i. New computers, chips, port job, sensors - you name it. Turned out to be a crap timing chain tensioner. Get the after market chain tensioner and install it.

    Wrist pain....again... :(

I guess I have to ask this... Have you ever fallen on your hand(s) and bent them back? I did ten years ago and that's about how long it took for the wrist to collapse as the ligaments continued shredding. At this point, I've sold all my biikes that had clipons because I can't put any pressure on...

    Headlight won't shut off.

Check your ignition switch. It's pretty much the only thing that could cause this sort of problem. Unless you're handy with taking these switches apart and repairing whatever malady it seems to have, you're probably just going to have to replace it.

    Save the Racers Tail

I had a 2012 Racer for a while and rode it to a weekend bike thing in Phoenix that had a number of bike businesses involved. An HD guy walked over to the bike and all he could see was the chrome tank. If there was any other part of a motorcycle there, he didn't notice it at all, not even to diss...

    Removing '03 Cal Stone odometer

Installation is not a difficult operation if you're reasonably handy with a soldering iron. I only say that only because the leads that come with the unit are so long that they're easier to install if shortened a bit. On my bike, there was about 4' of extra antenna wire that I coiled and shoved...

    Removing '03 Cal Stone odometer

I replaced mine with a GPS based speedometer from Speed Hut (http://www.speedhut.com/). Roughly the same price as a new speedometer replacement with a few more useful functions.

    MGX-21 - C14 Prototype

Where are the leather tassles? And the chaps. Gotta have the chaps! Oooh, and a doo-rag too. Whoops. Wait. It doesn't say Harley Davidson on the tank. Must not be a real motorcycle. Honestly, I don't think MG needs to market to that segment but if they can pull it off, more power to them...

    New C14 variants for 2015

I'm with abbienormal on this one. I do recall that the original 850's had a seat more suitable for two-up or even just for the single rider being able to adjust themselves on a long ride. Maybe the single seat makes less difference on the new C14's because of their less than stellar gas mileage...

Did the current capacity get an upgrade?

    Bad luck...again.

FWIW, I never had much luck with an early Pit Bull paddock stand on my V7 Racer (or Cafe when I had that. I don't have either now). Wow. Wet alternator. I haven't seen that mentioned on any of the Intermot 2014 coverage but I do know they were talking about it in... 1999. Slow progress than, if...

Forgive me father for I have sinned.

I had a mechanic that was fitting a Morris Mag to my RD-350 (do any of us truly remember that era?) and he put the pads in wrongside out. On the first application of the brakes they seized to the disk. Then broke loose. Then seized to the disk. Then broke loose. Then seized to the disk. Then...

Cal 1100 Hydraulic Lifter Recall Info

Oh crap. I know for fact that my 2004 Stone has the valve arrangement in the first picture and VIN is way lower than the stated one for the USA model. Guess I'll have to call my favorite dealer and mere 200 miles away.

The proverbial stuck Tonti gas cap

2004 Stone. Gas cap stuck today. No luck with key, injected a lot of TriLube and still no joy. Removed the tank mounting screws and for some reason that worked and then the cap unlocked with a great out-rush of air. The tank must have pressurized from temperature change. I do remember that these...

    B******y polycarbonate lenses - Norge

Too bad you're not in the USA. I actually have a spare one that I was experimenting on installing a FLIR camera in. I cut a 3" hole in the thing that would be hidden under a stock fairing. That pretty much destroys the weather proof nature of the thing though. There would be some work necessary...

There are alternatives. One is the Rec-Ignition unit from Cliff Jeffries.

Top speed hit on your Guzzi

I had a Sigma bicycle speedometer on my Sport 1100i so I'm hoping the speed was closer to reality than the stock unit on the bike. On Patterson Pass Road near Tracy, California at the 90˚ turn by the Tesla substation to the curve, 20mph -> 134.1mph -> 35mph in 1.4 miles. Fastest I've ever been...
