guess this road......

Bang on!
We're rolling up for stage one of the Tour of Beijing bike race. I was invited back from last year as a moto pilot for a photographer. Fantastic country, fantastic people. But not good for motor bikes, you can only ride out on public holidays and weekends, no motos in the city. On the race though we had fully closed roads and they are fantastic, really smooth and well made.

easy enough?

Redwood Nat'l Forest?
Not the National Forest (or national park), but close enough. Actually, the various state and county parks have the more impressive roads. This road is in Humboldt County.

This is a fairly poor image (a damaged print from a disposable camera), but I've seen this exact location in numerous magazine reviews and several Guzzi forum trip reports. What's the highway?

Sure looks like 58 from Taft towards Santa Margarita.

That's one fine piece of bituminous paving... Outside of the two 90d turns... And Daniel, did you ride 229 towards Creston on the other end?

Great guess, considering it looks like a a good part of CA in the summer.

I just missed this road last year on my ride down to SoCal. I took 166 back to the coast instead. Looks like I'll need an excuse to go back and visit...

Sorry to say; no. I know of that road, and have been on several around it; but, not that stretch.

You might be able to guess this road by what's around it (especially if you've been in the area), but I'll accept it if you just name the broad geological feature (which will cover more than just this state).

This road has a reputation of being a killer in the summer, but I've been along it a number of times, and it's never been all that bad.

Looks like 138 Lancaster/Palmdale. If so, non-divided, high-speed, head-on passes are the killer.

So 46 is my next guess then, it doesn't look like James Dean's 41.

It rather looks like a lot of roads in Eastern Washington.

It does. But, it's the road to Burns in Central Oregon. US-20. Part of the high desert that descends into the Great Basin.

Finding a place to park was just about impossible. And, I should really have taken the shot down the hill; not up. Name the road. The hint is that some cars will take these turns at speeds that no Guzzi could ever dream of. Ever.

This method of protecting fence posts is fairly common, but I think there are enough references that you'll be able to guess the region, if not the exact road.
