    5 speed transmission o-rings

Every time I go into one of these 5-speeds, I wonder what o-ring goes where. The parts manuals do no show the location of the input and output bearing, so it adds to the confusion. In this case, I opened up a 2003 5 speed, and there is only an o-ring on the shaft under the clutch hub. The parts...

    Wonderful shop manual

So I have been playing with a 7x33 rear gear set in my 2004 EV. Since I often tow a camper, I like the idea. Add in the fact that the original splines at over 110,000 miles, are a bit worn. So I read the manual. It doesn't make sense. And I read the manual and read the manual. I want to know...

    Rear spring replacement, 2009 Stelvio

Has anyone replaced the rear spring only? When riding two up loaded with luggage, the spring can't quiet handle it. Nothing like being mid corner and not being able to shift because the shifter is grinding the pavement.

    Clutch lever pull

How much clutch lever pull does your Stelvio require? Mine takes a LOT of effort. Pretty much more then any other bike I have owned, or close to it. At 39,000 miles, the clutch works fine. In fact it was apart for an unrelated issue, and the clutch plate looks good. It has the common 'grawl'...

    Leaks suck

And I thought that crabbing a tonti framed bike was a load of work. Leaking plug above the flyweel. And I found this rust / damage:

    Engine stand / jack

Has anyone dropped the engine out of the frame on their Stelvio yet? I have a leak from the rear main area. On the Tonti frames, I crab them and leave the front engine bolt on place and use a simple jack. That isn't going to happen here, so I need a way to support and lower the engine and...

    North Georgia TAG ride

This North Georgia tag ride is on going. Here is the plan. 1) You will look at the clues for the last location posted. You must travel to that location, then travel to a new location. Get photos (OR A GOOD DESCRIPTION) of the old and new locations with your bike. 2) Come here and post info on...

    Stelvio tire list

I have been wanting to put together a list for a while. I had hoped that we could get 'tables' supported directly on this site. Since we don't have that, I have put together a table on my web site, and will just put a link to it here. If you want to make any additions or corrections, post the...

New headlight bulbs, and I have sinned

My work brings me home at about 1 AM. With plenty of the route surrounded by wooded country roads, with deer and other critters. The headlights on the Stelvio, basically, SUCK. They have at least two issues. One, the reflectors are so poor, that they tend to scatter light, and not focus it...

    Headlight protection

Has anyone seen this? http://www.mgcycle.com/product_info.php ... ts_id=2829 Does it require boring holes in the faiting? Not sure I want to do that for the very little protection that it would offer. I need to learn how to bend plexiglass.

    Tire list

I have been wanting to put together a table with different tire data. It looks like this forum does not support tables. So I'll try to use a spreadsheet or something and insert it into this first post. So add you tire data here, and I'll try to oganize it. Cost/ tire life/opinions/ etc.

    Too mainstream

About the only motorcycle magazine I get is Motorcycle Consumer News. I never understood the other magazines and hate to pay someone to make stupid comments. Anyway........ I just got my Motorcycle Consumer News this month and what is this? A Moto Guzzi Stelvio on the front cover. And...

    The breaks...the brakes that is.

Anyone have a clue what the rear brake pads might cross reference to in EBC pads? The stock pads are close to $100 and I would like to try the HH compound anyway.

    Dead battery warning.

Last week during one of our deluge rains, the speedo sender failed again. I got the horrible SERVICE warning and red light. :? After I got home, the next day, I heard the stepper motor running in and out, in and out. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. No more stepper motor...

    Melt down

I noticed that the right headlight reflector is getting heat damaged. Has anyone else seen this? I use my high beam a lot riding home from work at night.

    That really sucks........literally

Early on I noticed that there are two foam bit inside the air snorkel under the seat. Likely for noise reduction. One of the foam pieces was missing. When I got a chance, I pulled the airbox lid and found it laying on top of the air filter. OK, so I glued it back in place with some spray on...
